If brands are viewing your profile but not contacting you, something on the page is probably making the decision harder than it should be. These ten mistakes are the most common, and each is easy to fix.
1. A profile photo that does not show you clearly
Use a sharp, well-lit photo where your face is easy to see. Avoid sunglasses, group photos and heavy filters.
2. An empty or vague bio
"Creator and dreamer" tells a brand nothing. Say what you make, who it is for and how you work. Our guide to writing a bio can help.
3. Too little work, or too much
Two samples are not enough proof, and fifty are too many to watch. Aim for your best five to eight pieces.
4. Work that does not match the jobs you want
If you want beauty briefs but your portfolio is all gaming, brands will assume you are not a fit. Show the type of work you want to be hired for.
5. Poor quality
Shaky video, bad sound and dark footage cost you jobs. Even simple changes help; see ways to make your content look more professional.
6. No packages or unclear prices
Brands do not like guessing what something costs or what they will get. Add clear packages with deliverables, revisions and timing.
7. Missing details
Leaving out your city, categories, languages or availability makes a brand's search harder. Complete every section you can.
8. Missing or inaccurate information
Wrong measurements, outdated contact details or details that do not match your photos damage trust quickly.
9. Slow replies
A brief that waits days for an answer often goes to someone else. Turn on notifications and reply as quickly as you realistically can, even if it is just to confirm you will respond fully soon.
10. No proof of reliability
Reviews, finished projects and a complete profile show that you deliver. Ask satisfied brands for a review after each project.
