Your portfolio is the first thing a brand checks before sending a brief. It does not need to be big. It needs to be clear, recent, and proof that you can deliver what the brand is asking for.
Start with your best five to eight pieces
Quality beats quantity. A brand scrolling through dozens of profiles will not watch twenty videos from one creator. Pick the pieces you are proudest of and remove anything that is weaker than the rest.
- Lead with your strongest video, not your newest one.
- Keep the length of each sample close to what brands actually order (15 to 45 seconds is common for short-form).
- Remove anything with poor sound, shaky framing, or a product you did not really use.
Show range, not repetition
Brands hire for a specific job. Show that you can handle more than one style so more briefs feel like a fit.
- A product review or first-impressions video
- An unboxing
- A how-to or tutorial
- A lifestyle or day-in-the-life shot
- A testimonial-style piece speaking straight to the camera
You do not need all five. Two or three formats done well is better than five done carelessly. Our guide to UGC ideas brands love has more formats to try.
Make every sample easy to understand
A viewer should know in two seconds what they are looking at. Add a short caption: the type of content, the kind of product or niche, and the platform format (vertical or horizontal). On Talents you can also tag each portfolio item with its content type, so brands can see at a glance what you do most.
No client work yet? Make your own
If you have not worked with brands, create sample content with products you already own. Treat it like a real brief: write a short hook, film in good light, edit cleanly, and add a clear call to action. Label these honestly as sample work. Brands care more about the quality of the craft than about a famous logo.
Keep it fresh and honest
Replace older work as your skills improve, and never show content that is not yours. A smaller portfolio that is 100% real builds more trust than a large one that raises questions.
Upload it where brands are already looking
Add your best pieces to your Talents profile. Photos and videos are reviewed before they appear publicly, so upload early, then keep refining. Pair the portfolio with clear content packages so a brand knows exactly what to order.
